Organisations in Crisis
All businesses and services depend on their managers to ensure current and future success. Yet, stress amongst managers is not something they willingly own up to. There are too many reasons for keeping stress covered up such as signs of weakness, humiliation, and insecurity.
It takes a brave person to say to an executive - 'I think you need help', yet all executives need to be on top form, in particular when faced with additional pressures coming from an economic downturn and insecurity. An underperforming executive can cause difficulties for employees; stress causes poor performance leading to poor decisions which may have a direct impact on an organisations prospects and its employees.
Ironically, executives pay for support for employees, thinking this is all that is required for a contented workforce and a high performing organisation. They don't seem to do the same for themselves, yet their influence on the workforce is fundamental to the continuing success and development of the organisation.
